Taro Manufacturing Company Inc. has announced that its legacy ignition parts catalog has been digitized and formatted in the industry ACES and PIES industry standard. The Aftermarket Catalog Exchange Standard (ACES) is the aftermarket industry data standard for the management and communication of product fitment data. The Product Information Exchange Standard (PIES) is the aftermarket industry data standard for the management and communication of product information. Both standards are important to the parts industry in order to keep up with the ever-changing part and fitment information in the markets. They are facilitated by groups such as the Autocare Association and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) and have been instrumental in evolving the old "binder system" of part numbers into the digital age. For Taro, their part information can now be easily accessed by buyers and consumers on-line where one can find ignition parts such as ignition distributor caps and rotors all the way back to the Ford Model A. This is a huge benefit to anyone that is restoring a classic or antique automobile, but also is important to farmers and maintenance workers who need to keep
older equipment running in the field. Trying to find the parts for an old tractor, for instance, can be difficult and any information on replacement parts is a step further towards a longer tractor life. The main benefit for Taro is the packaging of the digital data for wholesale and retail buyers. Now a buyer can simply import Taro's data with one upload and can be assured that the data will be compatible with their system (if it runs an ACES and PIES database standard) and confident that the information communicated to their customers is correct. With goals to make Taro more competitive with overseas suppliers, this system is also commensurate with other modernizations that Taro has been implementing recently. This has resulted in many of Taro's ignition components parts for internal combustion engines being reshored back to the USA.
